Top 10 Most Talked About NFL Team Facebook Pages

With the NFL season halfway through, it’s definitely one of the hottest topics of conversation (and debate) in person and especially on platforms like Facebook. Fans everywhere head straight to Facebook to glory in their favourite team’s win, vent their frustration over losses, and express their opinions (good and bad) of anything and everything that happens in their team. And is there a better place to meet likeminded people for these discussions than on that team’s Facebook page?


Whether their teams have played, or a game is coming up, Facebook is busy with conversations surrounding all 32 teams. So, at this stage of the season, which are the teams that are seeing the most chatter right now? And what are people talking about?

New England Patriots - 527,422 Talking about Them


As Super Bowl favourites, the Patriots are currently the most talked about team on Facebook. Between their game performances (overall and against the Bills), keeping up with Quarterback Tom Brady, and the impending return of running back Dion Lewis, fans have a lot to say to each other and the team itself!

Denver Broncos - 338,628 Talking about Them


For a team that ranks fifth in Facebook likes, the Broncos are a very talked about team! But with developments like injured players just before the Chargers game, running back C.J. Anderson possibly going into injured reserve for the season, and their win-loss ratio, commentary (positive and negative) is flying fast and furious!

Oakland Raiders - 306,201 Talking about Them


Unexpectedly emerging as one of the teams to watch this NFL season, the Oakland Raiders are seeing good movement on the field and on social media; they’re the third most talked about team on Facebook! With their current tie to lead the AFC West, fans will definitely be speculating on how far the team can go and whether they have a shot at the Super Bowl. The coming game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will also be seeing a lot of commentary!

Seattle Seahawks - 290,775 Talking about Them


The Seahawks are a socially active team that know how to keep their fans engaged. And when you throw in news of players coming in and out of games, injury and pregnancy announcements by Quarterback Russell Wilson (this is his first time being anything other than a full participant in practice), the fans have so much to discuss. What are the 2.8 million Packers fans chatting about? The team’s first away game in six weeks (playing against the Falcons in Atlanta), linebacker Clay Matthews’ injury, Jared Abbrederis no longer being a part of the team, and CB Baxter being released from the practice squad are just some of the topics that have seen the comments, commiseration and encouragement come in, making the Packers the fifth most talked about team on Facebook.

Dallas Cowboys - 265,109 Talking about Them


“America’s Team”, while by far the most popular on Facebook is not in the top five in terms of conversation at the moment. However, with word of the injured Tony Romo participating in practices once again, fans are undoubtedly speculating on whether he will replace Dak Prescott as the starting quarterback, and what kind of an impact this might have on the coming games. Not to mention the analysis of the team’s overall performance, and the coming game with the Philadelphia Eagles! We may see an upswing in conversation in the next few days.

Miami Dolphins - 240,545 Talking about Them


Another team that doesn’t rank among the favourites on Twitter and Facebook, the Miami Dolphins are nevertheless popular in conversation at the moment, coming in at number seven with 2.4 million people talking about them. And what might they be talking about? Jay Ajayi’s rising popularity, and his performance as a replacement for the retired running back Arian Foster are definitely contributors to the many conversations!

Pittsburgh Steelers - 233,629 Talking about Them


Coming in eighth in conversation popularity, the 2.3 million people talking about the Steelers have a lot to choose from when it comes to talking points - the merits of James Harrison over Jarvis Jones as starting right outside linebacker, whether the Steelers gave up against the Patriots after coming so close, and the new biography on coach Chuck Noll being high among them.

San Diego Chargers - 171,842 Talking about Them


In second to last place on this last are the San Diego Chargers, another team that ranks in conversation popularity over number of page likes. Leading the discussions will be speculations over the coming game with the Broncos and whether there’s been enough time for the coaches to develop new strategies, whether the Chargers will be able to get their third win in a row, and how Philon will perform in this game.

New York Giants - 159,581Talking about Them


On a positive front and a negative one, there are two topics that are under major debate concerning the New York Giants, who feature in the number 10 spot on this list. The positive topic is the unbelievable turnaround in the team’s defensive capabilities, which have done wonders for their performance in the first half of the NFL season. The other, less pleasant subject is the announcement that placekicker Josh Brown has been released for violating the League’s “Personal Conduct Policy,” after considerable publicity over domestic violence claims.
